This guide is dedicated to pushing the limits of The Lahkesis, Queen of Chaos build, focusing specifically on Damage Over time output of your Essence Drain abilities

with the Lich Ascendancy, Patch 0.3 [Work in 0.4]

For now, we will leave the basic mechanics and campaign out to dive straight into the gearing and clearing strategies that will let you truly dominate the Endgame.

Mechanics

Essence Drain is a chaos projectile spell that applies a strong damage over time debuff to enemies. This will be your primary single target damage skill.

Contagion provides strong area-of-effect (AOE) damage. It spreads all damage over time effects when the first enemy dies. Quality in Contagion targets 2 additional targets Use Gemcutter’s Prism to increase the gem quality to 20%.

Dark Effigy supports Essence Drain by applying poison and wither, This boosts your chaos damage over time.

Despair is your main curse. It lowers the chaos resistance of enemies in range.

Sigil of Power places a sigil on the ground. It grants (10–14)% more spell damage per stage, up to a maximum of 4 stages.

The Whispers of Doom Keystone or Doedre's Damning unique ring allows you to cast more than one curse. 

Temporal Chains slow enemies and extends the duration of debuffs. 

Enfeeble reduces the damage enemies deal. 

Blasphemy Turn socketed Curse skills into vile Auras, Quality in Blasphemy reduces spirit consumption. Use Gemcutter’s Prism to increase the gem quality to 20%.

Withering Presence provides a persistent buff and applies wither to nearby enemies, 

increasing chaos damage taken 

by 5% per stack, for a total of 170% at 10 stacks and +240% Withered magnitude.

 (80% from gloves, 80% from belt, %40 from Jewel 40% from the passive skill tree)

Convalescence grants a skill that you can use to instantly begin Recharging Energy Shield

Hedgewitch Assandra's Rune of Wisdom +1 to Level of all Spell Skills

Fenumus' Rune of Draining 20% increased Withered Magnitude on Gloves

Combined with new Belt Darkness Enthroned gains bonuses from Socketed Items as though it was Gloves 100% increased effect of Socketed Items,

and gloves with 2 Sockets that give 100% increased effect of Socketed Items.

If you have everything right you will have 240% increased Withered Magnitude 

80% gloves

80% belt

40% Jewel

20% Wither Away

20% 2 Small passive skills

Greater Iron Rune Armour: 18% increased Armour, Evasion and Energy Shield

Talisman of Egrin Enemies you Curse take 5% increased Damage

Serpent Talisman 5% increased Curse Magnitudes

Lineage Support Gems

Sione's Temper : Gain 1 Wildshard on casting Supported Spells, Skills have a 20% chance to fire 8 additional Projectiles in a circle per Wildshard Combined  this with chain 2 on Essence Drain and  Contagion will have good clear speed.

Dialla's Desire:  Supports Skill increasing the level and Quality, while reducing the cost and Reservation. +1 to Level of Supported Skill Gems +10% to Quality of Supported Skills you can use it with Contagion to get extra 1 additional targets, or we can use it in Blasphemy .

Esh's Radiance: grants extra Chaos damage and causes Chaos damage to Contribute to Shock.

Uhtred's Exodus: +3 to level of Supported Skills if no other Supports use it in Withering Presence.

Patch 0.3 brought welcome additions to the build, introducing new support gems, Lineage Support gems, new runes, and new unique items. Fortunately, the Essence Drain skill, which is central to this build, doesn't rely heavily on complementary skills or specific unique items. This self-sufficiency is precisely why Essence Drain remains a solid and reliable choice for both the leveling process and clearing challenging endgame content.

while the build is strong in its current state, the Chaos Damage Over Time archetype has limited possibilities to improve with only withered magnitude and increased damage. We can only hope that in the future GGG introduces a dedicated stat for scaling damage, like it does in POE1 with Damage Over Time Multiplier. This can bring the build to a new height and open the possibilities for more build variety and combos. We see the game becomes better with each patch and we can't wait for what other surprise GGG has planned for us. In the meantime, stay sane, exile.
